We are hiring Field Directors to join us on an important and exciting campaign to collect signatures to pass the Restore Our Fairgrounds ballot initiative. Once passed, this initiative will invest millions of dollars back into the community by building desperately needed affordable housing, as well as create environmental protections for Browns Creek, and develop green spaces for all to enjoy in Nashville.
We are hiring for Field Director positions. Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers who will engage voters and register them to vote. Additionally, the Lead Director will manage a team of one or more Field Directors and will be responsible for building an office to scale from the ground up.
The Field Director is expected to go into the field themselves multiple days per week to gather signatures and lead by example. They must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Field Director manages canvassers and Team Leads and reports to the Lead Director. The Lead Director reports to the Project Director.
We are hiring immediately. This position will run through August 2026.
Locations: Nashville, TN
Management Responsibilities:
- Work with our recruitment team to find and hire members of the community to work as canvassers and engage voters
- Manage a team of paid signature gatherers, setting and driving goals along the way
- Implement safety protocol
- Develop and execute strategic plans to reach targeted voters effectively
- Coordinate canvassing sites for your staff, and work with partner groups to avoid overlapping efforts in the field
- Go out in the field yourself multiple days per week to gather signatures, train staff, and drive office goals
- Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure message accuracy and data integrity
- Maintain a safe and positive working environment for all staff
- Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
- Identify, promote, and develop leadership within the team to maximize impact
- Hold staff accountable to performance metrics and standards
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Handle administrative tasks, including daily data reporting, payroll processing, and inventory management
- Set voter registration goals
- Recording and reporting on office performance
- Tracking and monitoring campaign expenses
- Maintain accurate inventory of office materials and overall office organization
- Manage staff schedule
Qualifications:
Must have:
- Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
- Prior signature gathering experience
- Eagerness to lead from the front, get into the field and canvass multiple days a week
- Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong passion for community organizing and empowering voters
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
Nice-to-have:
- Experience managing paid canvasses or teams of paid employees
- Management experience
- Experience working with diverse communities, marginalized populations and/or underrepresented populations
- Strong facilitation and training experience
- Local ties to the area/understanding of local context
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $1,146 - $1,412 per week, based on experience. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses.
