The Outreach Team

Summer Fellow

Organizing - Las Vegas, NV - Full Time

Apply to the Summer of HER Fellowship today!

The Summer of HER (Health, Empowerment, and Rights) is a field project co-sponsored by the Population Connection Action Fund and our sister organization, Population Connection. Fellows work in their communities, across the country, to build support to permanently end the cruel and callous Global Gag Rule.

Our activist fellows work to advocate for the full range of comprehensive reproductive health care for individuals around the world through:

  • Collecting pledges to support the #Fight4Her Campaign
  • Recruiting and training new volunteers
  • Organizing rallies, lobby meetings at the offices of members of Congress, and social media actions
  • Landing media hits in local news outlets to spread the word
  • Building coalitions with progressive organizations
  • Assisting in planning and organizing a local #Fight4HER Summit

You can read more about our past Summer of HER Fellowships here.

Locations and Timeline: Fellows will be placed in either Phoenix, AZ; Tuscon, AZ; Manchester, NH; Las Vegas, NV; Columbus, OH; or Lehigh Valley, PA. The Summer of HER Fellowship is an 8-week program that runs from July 15 until September 7, 2024. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 8, 2024 or until positions have been filled.

Compensation: This fellowship pays $20 an hour for 10 hours of work per week. The biggest benefit of the program is that we provide unparalleled training in grassroots organizing skills. We will complete letters of recommendation for any fellow completing the program as well as sign off on internship requirements for class credit.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 8, 2024.

Who we are: Founded in 2013, Population Connection Action Fund supports the mission of Population Connection to educate the American people and advocate progressive action to stabilize world population at a level that can be sustained by Earth’s resources. Population Connection Action Fund’s grassroots supporters are deeply invested in supporting voluntary, rights-based family planning programs both domestically and globally. Our goal is to turn that passion into real political progress.

About the Global Gag Rule: The Global Gag Rule, when it is in effect, disqualifies some of the most effective and experienced family planning providers in the world from receiving U.S. assistance. Whether the policy is in place is a matter of life and death for people around the world. Lack of access to family planning information and services puts the lives and health of women at risk for no defensible reason. Millions of these women experience unintended pregnancies, and tens of thousands of them die from complications from pregnancies every year, including by unsafe abortion.

How did you find out about us?*
Have you ever worked for The Outreach Team, Vote Blue, or 360 Campaign Consulting before? If yes, please give dates, name at time of employment, position(s) held, and reason for leaving:*
I certify that all of the above information is true and complete, and I understand that any falsification or omission of information may result in denial of employment or, if hired, may result in termination regardless of the time lapse before discovery*
What originally inspired you to engage with campaign work?*
What about The Outreach Team’s values and approach to our work stand out to you? Which values do you share and how do you apply that to your life/work?*
This role requires lots of planning and flexibility and requires our Project Directors to be bottomline on the success of a project. Could you tell me about a project you created or managed from start to finish? This could be anything, an event, fundraiser, electoral campaign, etc, but what I’m most interested in is what your role was in relation to others, and what the main things were that you did at each stage of the project from the beginning until it concluded.*
