About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is a leader in providing innovative campaign services to nonprofits and political campaigns. Specializing in managing large-scale voter contact initiatives, we are committed to fostering civic engagement and promoting positive change. This year, we are excited to expand our reach by running numerous voter contact canvass offices across the country, aiming to make significant impacts in key areas.

This is a full-time position for an experienced campaign and people manager and recruiter who loves working on social change campaigns. At The Outreach Team, the Roving Recruiter is responsible for coordinating and implementing nationwide recruitment efforts. You will work with our central Recruitment team to identify, interview, and hire the staff that will allow us to make a difference on our campaigns. As a Roving Recruiter, you will also be responsible for helping to problem-solve on-the-ground recruitment, often traveling to campaign offices to help with local recruitment efforts. 

 

The position is remote, with extensive travel required. This position is remote, however, we are not able to hire staff based in the following states: Alabama, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, or West Virginia. You should expect to work 40-60 hours per week depending on how close to elections or other deadlines your project is, travel for site visits will be required. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve critical challenges within field offices, focusing on issues related to recruitment and recruitment shortfalls
  • Work directly on-site at various locations, providing hands-on support and guidance to the Lead Director and canvassing teams.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to boost canvasser recruitment, utilizing on-the-ground tactics and the field office staff and director team.
  • Collaborate with local teams to foster a proactive, solution-oriented environment, ensuring all staff are aligned with campaign goals and equipped to meet daily targets.
  • Prepare reports and provide feedback to senior management on campaign progress and problem-solving efforts.
  • Build and maintain a team culture that centers on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
  • Treat staff with empathy and respect, and ensure the managers you work with do the same
  • Maintain high-performance standards and provide ongoing and immediate feedback
  • Hold staff accountable and have tough conversations when necessary; 
  • Get on the ground, completing site visits and leading by example to drive goals when necessary. This may include things like clipboarding, postering, and holding in-person interest meetings and interviews. 
  • When not on the ground, working with the central Recruitment team to conduct interviews and hire canvass staff for any and all office across the country
 

Qualifications (the must-haves)

  • Proven experience in recruitment, campaign management, field operations, or a similar role within political campaigns or nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to quickly understand and diagnose issues impacting recruitment performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with a capacity to motivate and inspire teams under high-pressure scenarios.
  • Ability to travel frequently and adapt to varying field environments.
  • Passionate commitment to civic engagement and a deep understanding of grassroots organizing.
  • A track record of results, hitting goals, and meeting benchmarks
  • A willingness to perpetually expand your knowledge of equity and justice and apply it to your work

How to Apply

This is a salaried position with a range of $1300 - $1450/wk, depending on experience, plus an additional performance-based bonus at the end of every project. We offer benefits, including fully paid health care, vacation, and sick days.
