About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is a leader in providing innovative campaign services to nonprofits and political campaigns. Specializing in managing large-scale voter contact initiatives, we are committed to fostering civic engagement and promoting positive change. This year, we are excited to expand our reach by running voter contact canvass offices to engage voters all across the country.

As part of our “Special Operations” team, this position will ensure the success of our campaigns by providing short-term support in under-staffed and/or underperforming offices. The Roving Lead Director will train and manage a diverse team of full-time field directors, and supervise teams of other full-time and part-time staff. Roving Lead Directors will stabilize offices, improve local management, and drive goals on campaigns to ensure the office stays on track to exceed its goals. 

This is a full-time position for an experienced campaign director and significant travel is required. At The Outreach Team, the Special Ops Team is expected to collaborate closely with Project Directors overseeing an array of programs and successfully embed with local management in a variety of contexts. In this role you will ‘parachute in’ to various offices across the country as needed to maintain or improve office performance in a short-term/bridge capacity. 

The position is primarily on the road, with assignments lasting four to seven days on average, and down time to work remotely from home in between in-office assignment. You should expect to work 40-60 hours per week, depending on how close to elections or other deadlines your project is. We cover the cost of travel and housing when you are out on assignments. 

When you are assigned to an office and on the ground, you will be the bottom line person doing the work to make voter registration drives and voter contact drives successful. This position starts ASAP, and runs until November 9th, 2024.

Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Continue the operational norms for the campaigns, including training plans, staff schedules, transportation, and safety plans.
  • Manage a team of 3-6 Deputy Directors, setting goals and holding staff accountable
  • Train directors and campaign staff and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Go in the field as needed to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goals
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff 
  • Develop strategic plans to reach target voters/constituencies in assigned locations

Administration

  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record-keeping, processing payroll, and distributing materials 
  • Ensure your team adheres to HR requirements and recommendations as related to onboarding, offboarding, and disciplinary actions.
  • Implement and manage quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work
  • Bottom line on verifying the quality of all voter registration forms and voter contact shifts within the required turnaround time

Miscellaneous

  • Work directly at various locations, providing hands-on support and guidance to Director teams and canvassing teams.
  • Ensure company policies are upheld, including holding staff accountable to performance, integrity, health, safety, and professionalism standards. 
  • Maintain high standards in the office and provide ongoing feedback and evaluation for staff.
  • Analyze data and report back to Project Directors in all the offices to flag trends and problems.
  • Complete administrative duties, including working with the Lead Directors, Field 
  • Ensure our staff, team, and outreach efforts are rooted in and shaped by the values of equity and justice. Infusing equity and justice principles into every aspect of the job, including but not limited to staff management, orientation, and office administration.

Qualifications:

Must have

  • Strong management skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team while also holding staff accountable to goals and expectations
  • At least two years of staff management experience, especially in campaigns, canvass operations, or field organizing
  • Can speak compellingly about campaign issues and strategy
  • Willing and able to listen to staff and solve problems
  • Committed to equity and inclusion
  • Strong work ethic; able to persevere in the face of challenges and setbacks
  • Flexible; ready for the unexpected and willing to adapt to last minute changes
  • Eager to learn and open to feedback
  • Basic tech competency (G-suite or microsoft office, smart phone or computer)
  • Ability to travel and adapt to varying field environments.
  • Able to quickly new learn system

This is a salaried position with a range of $1250-1500wk, depending on experience, plus an additional performance-based bonus at the end of every project. We offer benefits, including fully paid health care, vacation, and sick days.
