About the Role:
We are hiring Field Directors to join us on an important and exciting voter engagement campaign in Los Angeles. This role is central to building strong, motivated teams that connect directly with voters, mobilize support, and drive a high-impact turnout operation in upcoming elections.
We are seeking Field Directors to help lead our field operations and voter engagement efforts. This campaign is centered on empowering citizens to make their voices heard and creating meaningful change in our democracy. Voter contact is a crucial step to building political power in our communities and ensuring that every voice is heard.
We are hiring for Lead Director and Field Director positions. Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers who will engage voters. Additionally, the Lead Director will manage a team of one or more Field Directors and will be responsible for building an office to scale from the ground up.
The Field Director is expected to go into the field themselves multiple days per week to canvass, train staff, and lead by example. They must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Field Director manages canvassers and Team Leads and reports to the Lead Director. The Lead Director reports to the Project Director.
We are hiring immediately. This position will run through upcoming elections.
Locations: Los Angeles Koreatown
Management Responsibilities:
- Work with our recruitment team to find and hire members of the community to work as canvassers and engage voters
- Manage a team of 20-50 paid canvassers, setting and driving goals along the way
- Implement safety protocol
- Develop and execute strategic plans to reach targeted voters effectively
- Coordinate canvassing sites for your staff, and work with partner groups to avoid overlapping efforts in the field
- Go out in the field yourself multiple days per week to canvass, train staff, and drive office goals
- Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure message accuracy and data integrity
- Maintain a safe and positive working environment for all staff
- Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
- Identify, promote, and develop leadership within the team to maximize impact
- Hold staff accountable to performance metrics and standards
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Handle administrative tasks, including daily data reporting, payroll processing, and inventory management
- Set voter contact goals
- Recording and reporting on office performance
- Tracking and monitoring campaign expenses
- Maintain accurate inventory of office materials and overall office organization
- Manage staff schedule
Qualifications:
Must have:
- Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
- Eagerness to lead from the front, get into the field and canvass multiple days a week
- Experience leading, motivating, and managing large teams in a fast-paced setting
- Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong passion for community organizing and empowering voters
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
Nice-to-have:
- Experience managing paid canvasses or teams of paid employees
- Management experience
- Experience working with diverse communities, marginalized populations and/or underrepresented populations
- Strong facilitation and training experience
- Familiarity with voter engagement tools such as VAN and MiniVAN
- Local ties to the area
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $1,352 - $1,575 per week, based on experience. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses.
